Invitation

On behalf of the Organizing Committee it is our pleasure to invite you to the 42nd Workshop on
Inner Ear Biology (IEB).

The Workshop will be held at the Eberhard-Karls University Tubingen, from 17. – 20. September 2005.  The scientific programme begins on Sunday morning, 18. September.

The IEB Workshops are organized annually throughout academic centres in Europe with the objective of offering an international platform for scientific exchange on the latest developments in the field of inner ear biology.  The Workshops are forum for multidisciplinary interaction between basic research scientists and clinical scientists, working at the genetic, molecular, cellular, and whole-organ levels.  The official website of the Workshops is http://ieb.unife.it/ .

In conjunction with the Workshop there will be a one-day Symposium, entitled Terminal Differentiation: A Challenge for Regeneration, beginning Saturday morning, 17. September. Presentations will be from invited speakers, and will highlight the cutting-edge issues for inner ear biology, with contributions also from other fields.  Satellite symposia have proven extremely successful in the last few years because they allow focusing on an exciting topic of inner ear biology.

There will be no registration fee, to encourage attendance by young scientists.  Accommodation is extremely well priced:  Hotel with breakfast starts at EUR 35 (Budget) and ranges up to EUR 97 (Luxury).

The scientific programme of the Workshop will consist of free communications, either as a podium presentation (15 min) or as a poster presentation. The deadline for abstract submission is 17. May 2005
31. May 2005.

The Spoendlin Junior Award will be presented for the best paper presented by a young researcher, under 35 years old. The award will consist of a plaque and a EUR 1,000 prize. A manuscript in extenso must be mailed to the Workshop Secretariat before 17. May 2005   31. May 2005.
